NUIN Message of Support

Over the past week we’ve joined you in watching the country and our city react with both peaceful protests and violent demonstrations in response to the murder of George Floyd in Minneapolis, injustices perpetrated against other people of color, and inequalities caused by the long-standing history of discrimination in our country. For our black community this is a continuation and intensification of the trauma that they experience every day.

We in NUIN leadership realize that our students are not immune to the anger, fear, and anxiety associated with institutionalized racism in our society or that results from direct discrimination. As educators, we are committed to breaking down barriers by creating an environment of inclusivity and support in NUIN. We are available to listen and help.

If you are struggling, please do not hesitate to reach out to us, or to any of the available NU resources, for support. These include Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS), the Employee Assistance Program (EAP), Student Assistance and Support Services (SASS), the Office of Institutional Diversity and Inclusion (OIDI), TGS Office of Diversity and Inclusion, and Religious and Spiritual Life.
