POSTBACCALAUREATE PROGRAM (NU IN-PREP)
NU IN-PREP is a one-year program that provides enhanced research training, academic support, and a $27,200 stipend for postbaccalaureate students who are planning to apply to PhD programs in biomedical research. Housed in the Northwestern University Interdepartmental Neuroscience program (NUIN), IN-PREP offers training in a highly interdisciplinary and collaborative research environment that spans twenty departments and three campuses. This research-intensive program is supplemented with individualized advising, coursework in neuroscience, and instruction in scientific communication skills, with opportunities to present research. IN-PREP is designed to prepare its trainees for competitive admissions to graduate school and success thereafter.
Applicants must have received their bachelor’s degree within 3 years of IN-PREP’s start date (July 1st, 2017) and must be US Citizens or permanent residents. In support of our mission to increase diversity in biomedical research, IN-PREP strongly encourages applicants from underrepresented groups, those with disabilities, or from socially or economically disadvantaged backgrounds. Applicants are expected to have a demonstrated interest in pursuing research, as evidenced by prior research experience.
